FIRST BIRTHDAY SMASH & SPLASH
First Birthday Smash and Splash sessions are some of the fun portrait sessions. Babies have some of the best reactions to food and baths, which tend to be the most expressive portraits. Each set is unique to you and your family, so let's get creative. You can choose to have it mirror their party theme or pick a favorite book or movie. I wrote a blog to help you select your theme. Click here to read it. And get ready to laugh because this is going to be so fun!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- How far in advance should we schedule my smash and splash?
-
Most of these sessions need at least a week in advance. If you have a wild idea, a minimum of two weeks is required to pull together a unique set. Fall and Spring are my busy seasons, so if you know you would like to do something special for your baby during this time, please let me know as soon as possible. This will give me time to create something special for you.
- Who provides the cake?
-
Allergies: If your child has allergies, I ask that you provide the cake so you can ensure your child's special dietary needs are correctly cared for.
Specialty/Designer: I have a list of designer cake specialists if your Smash and Splash calls for a pretty or fancy cake. I don't recommend simply going to the supermarket to pick one up. It will rarely look as good as you hope. If you love how the fancy cakes look on Pinterest, don't skimp.
Keepin' is simple: I can make a perfectly sized naked cake for a small fee. I love a simple cake as it doesn't distract your eye from the baby, and unlike a cake with fondant, they are easy to eat. I prefer a white or yellow cake with light-colored frosting. If your baby does get messy (not all do), a lighter-colored cake and icing will look better.
- Do we have to smash a cake?
-
Heck no! Donuts, pizza, tacos, spaghetti...there are lots of fun options! Check out my Pinterest board with lots of fun ideas.
- Are these only for 1 year olds?
-
Not at all. In fact, two-year smash and splashes are just as much fun, if not more! My son is doing one next year for his 10th birthday. No birthday is too small to celebrate. Please give me a holler, and let's create something special!
