BABIES
There are so many firsts that happen in a baby's first year. It is easy for time to fly through the haze of sleeplessness and busy lives. I recommend you return to the studio between your newborn and first birthday portraits. Sitter sessions are most popular as babies start to sit between 5-7 months old. This is an excellent middle point to capture how much your baby has changed. And who doesn't love adorable chunky baby portraits?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- What are the typical baby milestones?
-
Many clients like to capture their little ones every three months of the first year. However, that can be a little much for most people. I recommend new baby, sitting, and first birthday sessions as these are the most significant milestones of your baby's first year. You can see considerable growth between each session. Sitter sessions are a fun time to do something charming with babies, like dress them up as a baby chick, bunny, or snowman (just a few of my favorites).
- When is the best time for a sitter session?
-
Not all babies sit at six months. Some have older siblings to keep up with and sit well before that six-month mark. Others, like my kiddo, don't fully sit till a bit later. Once a baby is sitting comfortably and confidently, that is when you want to bring them in for their session. You don't want them focusing on trying to stay upright. We want them to be able to give us all their attention and those adorable smiles and expressions.
- What is a studio playdate? And when do you recommend them?
-
I want your portrait session to be successful. Some babies are shyer with strangers, so I offer studio play dates. Bring your baby over, and let's hang out in the studio and get to know each other. This allows your baby to get acclimated with the studio and get to know my friendly face before being put in the spotlight. I also use this time to get to know your baby, what they like, and don't like, and how best to bring smiles. This little visit doesn't cost any extra. It's part of my commitment to go above and beyond to capture your family.
